
Ability Access Services is committed to the following:
- Providing opportunities for Service Users to develop skills to participate in and achieve valued roles in the community.
- Enhancing the abilities, skills and opportunities of Service Users to make valued contributions in their community.
- Promoting a positive image of people both within the Service and in their community.
- Providing services and support that facilitates the inclusion of Service Users in the life of the community.
- The Service Philosophy of an ordinary life provides the framework in which valued roles, community inclusion and participation in the local neighborhood and community are a requirement.
Support plans will be according to the interests, goals and aspirations of each Service User and may include, but not be restricted to any of the following activities;
- A home of their own choice within their financial resources.
- Support to undertake care of their home and environs.
- Support to undertake shopping, banking and everyday activities of life.
- Encouragement and support to participate in social and recreational activities which take place in the local neighbourhood or community
- Skills development to further increase opportunities for participation and inclusion.
- Support and participation in ongoing education opportunities such as participation in paid or voluntary work.
- Keeping in touch with family and friends and informal networks.
- Support arrangements will reflect the initiatives chosen and will be reviewed on a regular basis to provide feedback on community participation, integration and undertaking of valued roles.
The Service encourages interaction with family and friends and informal networks to further increase the opportunities for community participation in natural settings.
